"Insight-7/28/2025 "
Insight is a cat whose appearance hints at years of tough living outdoors on his own, but he's also a reminder not to "judge a book by its cover." This cat is the most affectionate boy. He wants nothing but love. In fact, he wants ALL the love — previously he was adopted to a home with dogs but wouldn't let the dogs be near their guardians. We've heard him loud and clear and are looking for a solo home for this boy.
Insight is also quite a chatterbox, and he loves attention.
Their veterinarian aged Insight at 10 years, and they have done routine senior labs. At this time, he doesn't require any medical interventions, but his adopters should continue to monitor him at regular intervals.

"Morris-7/21/2025 "
Morris is one of the 18 cats and kittens whom the Richmond SPCA transferred into our care from Texas after catastrophic flooding there. Richmond SPCA worked with Best Friends Animal Society and Wings of Rescue to bring pets who were already awaiting adoption in Texas shelters to Virginia. This lifesaving transport makes room in local shelters to respond to their community's needs after the disaster, allowing them to help animals and families displaced by the floods.

Chance loves walks, road trips, and romping around with his canine foster buddies. He's crate and housetrained, and loves the treats and praise he gets when he shows how well he can follow commands. Chance is good with other dogs and with children, and he likes nothing better than being by his human's side! He's equal parts adventure buddy, couch potato, and best friend material! A generous donor, who knows how special Chance is, has already paid his adoption fees, too!

Mickey is a handsome 1 year old tuxedo who is just as charming as he looks. He's very social, enjoys other cats and loves his humans.
He likes to be close, even climbing into your lap for a snuggle, but he doesn't need constant attention, just a quiet space to relax and some interesting spaces to explore . He would be a great companion for someone who wants a cat who knows when to chill and when to play!
If you are interested in adopting Mickey please reach out to the Henrico Human Society

"Hotch "
- Outgoing senior girl who never met a stranger — she'll promptly climb onto your shoulder as soon as she meets you!
- Shirley's squinty appearance is due to an abnormality with her eyes. Her eyelids weren't fully formed when she was born, and she went most of her life with hair irritating her eyes. The Richmond SPCA's veterinarian performed surgery to relieve her discomfort, and now she receives regular medication to help with dryness.
- As petite and mild-mannered as Shirley appears with people, she can be selective about other cats. We recommend an extended acclimation period if there are other pets in the home.
- Our cat enrichment specialist fit Shirley for a harness and leash today, which she took to quite well. More adventures and exploration are surely in store!

"Goose "
While Goose is not yet available for adoption, the Richmond SPCA is seeking a foster home for him while he completes chemotherapy. The ideal foster will be an adult who does not have other pets or kids at home.
Goose was surrendered to the Richmond SPCA in January, and our veterinarian did surgery to remove a mass which the biopsy revealed to be cancerous. Goose began chemo in March, and he had his second of six treatments earlier this month. Between treatments, it would be ideal for this good boy to have a temporary foster rather than be in the shelter.

"Scroop"
Scroop is a beautiful 4-year-old cat. The staff all say she's a fantastic lady, and from the greeting I've received in her room, I can see why. She's very outgoing and makes friends fast. She had some symptoms of anxiety in a prior home when living with other animals and we think she'd be happiest as an only pet.

Briton
Briton is a 12-year-old dog who has some significant senior health concerns. His former owners took him to a local vet office to request end-of-life care; however, the staff there determined that his medical conditions, while chronic, were not terminal.
Thanks to our Cinderella Fund, the Richmond SPCA agreed to bring him into our care to begin treating his needs, which include dermatitis (skin issues), disc disease, arthritis and mass removal. Despite his age, Briton is quite spunky and incredibly affectionate. He's previously lived with other animals - both cats and dogs.
